On the 500th Anniversary of the Venice Ghetto, acclaimed authors Stephen Greenblatt and Howard Jacobson talk about the legacy of its most famous resident—Shylock, the Jewish moneylender in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. Stephen Greenblatt is Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. He is the author of Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award winning The Swerve: How the World Became Modern, as well as numerous books on Shakespeare. Howard Jacobson is the author of more than a dozen novels, including Man Booker Prize winner The Finkler Question, The Mighty Walzer, and J. His new novel, Shylock Is My Name, is a contemporary retelling of The Merchant of Venice. They will be interviewed by Jonathan Wilson, Director of the Tufts University Center for the Humanities.
