New York’s top political comedian returns to Martha’s Vineyard in his solo show, Scott Blakeman: A Standup Who Doesn’t Dumb Down, Saturday August 30 at 8 pm at The Grange Hall in West Tisbury.
Blakeman is an original member of New York’s longest running political comedy show Laughing Liberally, and has performed his comedy around the world including the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Scott is a familiar face on MSNBC and CNN, and is a contributor to the Huffington Post.
The New York Times said, “Scott Blakeman is an astute, funny political observer who loosed his darts in a tone that remained smilingly ironic.” The Boston Globe said, “He’s a Jewish Jimmy Tingle, combined with Richard Lewis on decaf.”
Blakeman co-hosted with Keith Olbermann, a celebration of James Thurber at New York’s 92nd St Y, where he has also interviewed Robert Klein, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara and Lewis Black.
Blakeman tours with Palestinian Muslim-American comedian Dean Obeidallah in Standup for Peace: If We Can Laugh Together, We Can Live Together.
Scott was the warmup comedian for the Late Show with David Letterman, the CBS sitcom Welcome To New York, and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.
Remaining tickets on sale at the door starting one hour before showtime, cash only.
