Northeastern University’s Carla Kaplan on White Women of the Black Renaissance

Carla Kaplan, author of “Miss Anne In Harlem: The White Women of the Black Renaissance” will speak at a breakfast sponsored jointly by the Congregation Beth Elohim Brotherhood and Sisterhood. Her book, which she recently presented at the Smithsonian, details the stories of six upper-class white women who became patrons, participants and friends of the Harlem community during the 1920s. Dr. Kaplan is the Davis Distinguished Professor of American Literature at Northeastern University where she is developing a Center for the Study of Biography and Cultural History.
